Baccalaureate

Saturday, May 17, 2025 at 4 p.m. ET | Packer Memorial Church

Baccalaureate service is part of the ÌÇÐÄviog¹Ù·½ÍøÕ¾ graduation tradition. This year’s speaker is Jay Parini, a poet, novelist, biographer, and critic. Parini is the D.E. Axinn Professor of English at Middlebury College.

Kate Johnson ’89

Johnson is president and chief executive officer at Lumen Technologies, a global technology and communications company, and a technology innovator with a proven track record of driving business transformation success at several Fortune 100 companies. She has held executive leadership roles at companies such as Microsoft, Oracle and GE Digital.

Graduate Commencement/Doctoral Hooding Ceremony

James T. Wassil ’99G ’05G

An award-winning scientist, Wassil has dedicated over three decades to developing and commercializing vaccines intended to prevent infectious diseases and has held leadership positions in the vaccine divisions of Pfizer, Novartis and Merck. He has played a role in the creation of numerous vaccines, including leading the development of two vaccines to prevent meningitis, and was an integral contributor for others.
